Monthly Membership: For those who prefer not to pay their Standard Membership or Next Gen Membership in one go. Our Monthly Membership Option allows you to pay a monthly allotment throughtout the financial year so you achieve your $1,150 (Standard Membership) or $575 (Next Gen Membership) by June 30th.

Life Membership: A tax-deductible donation of $25,000 secures your membership (with voting rights) for life, exempt from any administration fees. Each financial year we calculate the total funds we've accumulated from memberships and other donations. Your membership contribution will be included in this pool.

The $150 administration fee ($75 for Next Gen members) goes toward operational costs like our online systems that help manage our membership database, payment platform, website, etc. Our overhead expenses are minimal.

If you join or renew by 30 June 2025, you can vote on the allocation of our FY2024/25 granting pool. This voting takes place during our annual awards event in October. Only members who have joined or renewed during FY2024/25 can vote on this allocation.

Yes! Melbourne Women’s Foundation is a registered charity with DGR 1 (Deductible Gift Recipient) status, so all our supporters can claim a tax deduction for their donations.

Yes! Our DGR status means you can make your tax-deductible membership donations in several ways, including through a Private Ancillary Fund or through workplace giving platforms like Good2Give.

Workplace Giving facilitates direct membership donations from your payroll, offering you an immediate pre-tax benefit while ensuring the full donation amount reaches our giving circle. And some employers may match your contribution, halving your membership donation cost or doubling your donation.

Yes! All our memberships can be gifted. Just check the box for a gifted membership as you go through the payment process.

Your membership lasts for the duration of the financial year in which you joined/renewed through June 30th of the following financial year. If you do not renew by midnight on that following June 30th, your membership will lapse and you will be unable to vote in our grants allocation the following October.

For example, if you join/renew on 8 February 2025, your membership will last until 30 June 2026. You will be able to vote in our grants allocation in October 2025 because you contributed to the FY24/25 grants pool. However, if you do not renew by midnight 30 June 2026, you will no longer be a member and unable to vote because you didn't contribute to the FY25/26 grants pool.

At our annual awards event in October, members vote online for which nonprofits receive our major grants. There are two major grants, each with three finalists. To help members make an informed vote, we provide information about each finalist closer to the event and you hear directly from the finalists at the event itself.

Even if they do not receive a major grant, we ensure each finalist leaves with some funding. In 2024, each runner-up finalist received $10,000.

Voting is optional. Some members choose not to vote, trusting our rigorous shortlisting process and letting the broader membership decide.

Attending events is optional.

Yes! Many of our members tell us they join after they attend an event with a friend who is a member. Feel free to bring a friend to our events!

In addition to our events, we have regular social gatherings across Melbourne. We announce these via our regular newsletters, social media and the Events section of our website.

We are a volunteer-dependent organisation that follows a cooperative model. Our volunteer Board oversees the Foundation's governance and works with a committed group of members who lead our grants, events, marcomms, membership and Next Gen committees.
